ELAC SONAR, Gdańsk University of Technology, and Enamor are establishing scientific and research cooperation in the field of hydroacoustic. The work will focus on dual-use technologies for Integrated Sonar Systems (ISS) and Seabed Warfare with a focus on operations in the Baltic Sea.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signature ceremony took place on 10 February in the Senate Hall of the Gdańsk University of Technology. ELAC SONAR was represented by Managing Director Bernd Szukay, the university by the Rector Prof. Krzysztof Wilde, and Enamor by the President of the Management Board Maciej Rek.
ELAC SONAR GmbH will support its partners in design, development, production, installation, testing and maintenance of integrated sonar systems, with a view to participating in military projects implemented in Poland.
Enamor Sp. z o.o. specializes in providing advanced technologies and innovative solutions for the defence sector in Poland. Enamor will deliver maintenance and training services for ELAC SONAR’s systems and will supply electronic and mechanical components.
The Gdańsk University of Technology, whose main specializations include hydroacoustics, will contribute software updates, new applications and the implementation of advanced algorithms, including solutions tailored to the needs of the Polish Navy.
"Long-term cooperation with universities has always played an important role in the development of our advanced SPHERE® sonar systems," stressed Bernd Szukay
This collaboration combines ELAC SONAR’s hardware and software expertise, Enamor’s service and component capabilities, and the GUT’s research and software know‑how to accelerate the development of next‑generation, sonar technology for Baltic Sea operation.
